Make up your face!

How many purple looks can I do…

As I said before about the crease look, you can really use ANY color. I always tell myself to use other colors for the sake of the blog but I never listen to myself. As for products, I think it was MAC.

Stila's Cassis e/s $18

Cassis: Shimmering royal purple

I love purple e/s and this has a blue duochrome to it and it looks fantastic.

Luxury on my lips.

In my search for the perfect red, I went to the glossy Chanel counter to pick up their classic. And then I picked up two more. Surprise surprise! I’ve always LOVE Chanel’s lip products, some of the best actually. These don’t feel too thick or sticky and the long-wearing power is awesome, especially for a dinner and a night out.  I bought the two nude ones for the abundant weddings I go to. No point in reapplying so much when I have these babies. I thought I lost one on Halloween night and was preparing to buy a replacement when I found it in the clutch I was using that night. Must be love indeed.

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque - Dragon, Ming, Santal $32

They are also labeled by numbers - 75, 76, 77.

Classic does it.

Experimenting / practicing a look I want for an upcoming event using just the Smashbox’s Perfect Palette I wrote about before. LOVE LOVE LOVE the shadows and brow sets. The lip glosses, creme liners, and powders are mediocre. Hopefully you can still get it in Ulta stores, but it is no longer available online. All I used were my own foundation + primer; everything else was from this awesome palette.

This look is very popular for those that want to “fake a crease.” My asian models usually request for something like this in whichever color scheme they want. It doesn’t have to be the natural look. It enhances your natural crease and makes your eyes appear just a bit larger. This biggest mistake that can be made here is drawing the “crease” too high. Then it’ll look waaaaaaay obvious. This is the same crease look done on any eye shape, the only thing that is different is placement. The lastest trend is the “cut-the-crease” look, which is basically the above but only blended out on top keeping a sharp line below. It’s really nothing new, just a little tweak!

Lots of things going on lately so the blog have been on the back-burner. I will post details later on. =)

NY gifts (for myself!)

with 4 comments

This was a surprisingly good size clutch. - Topshop

It's never too much. - Soho shop

Interesting shape when worn with tights...my fave. - Soho shop

Can always use another blazer, but this was squished in my stuffed luggage. =( - Soho shop

I didn’t shop until the very last day of my NY trip. We were so busy exploring that we had to push it off til the end. And even though we barely shopped Soho in about 4 hours, we did enough damage to call it a day. However do NYC people maintain a healthy wallet, I don’t know, but if I were to live or come to NYC more often, I would be wiped out! I really wanted to hit up TOPSHOP and UNIQLO the most. Topshop was so fun to browse and Uniqlo was a great opportunity for me to stock up on basics. I long got over the fascination for H&M a long time ago and I am still convinced so because I can’t pay for such low quality stuff…no matter how cheap. Sorry. But all in all, I would LOVE to have 2 days worth of Soho fun next time I visit. Such amazing shopping!

It’s like candy.

My trip to NYC wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t make it to a makeup supply store. Period. Time only allotted just one shop, and yes, I would go to more than one! Easiest one I ran into was Alcone Co. I wish I had time to find Ricky’s too.

Alcone Co.
322 W 49th St
New York, NY 10019-7320
(212) 757-3734

In the bag:

  • Ben Nye Grande Lumiere Palette — I LOVE THIS PALETTE. This was my go-to for bright Halloween looks. Color payoff is amazing with easy blending. Very long-lasting might I add. Plus, it does not fade when the party night is over.
  • Ben Nye Glitter GlueHave yet to try…
  • Parian Spirit Brush Cleaner — I like this better than Cinema Secret’s brush cleaner mostly because it doesn’t smell as harsh. PS smells citrusy while CS smells more like alcohol. I even think PS dries a tiny bit faster but that’s just me!
  • Mehron Mixing LiquidHave yet to try…
  • Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre — This is my 2nd time buying this product (and I usually don’t repeat unless it’s really really good). This cream is just amazing for my face and hands. A lot of makeup artists have this in their kit because more than likely, the client will not get any allergic reaction to it. It makes skin soft, non-greasy, has no obvious smell, and works well even with makeup.

“I WISH FOR THE PERFECT PALETTE.”

Just ordered this from Smashbox.com with free shipping and no tax and free deluxe sample. Also available at ulta.com and store locations. I read awesome reviews on the makeup itself – highly pigmented, smooth, durable, and multi-uses. The only cons would be the cheesy packaging and horrible brushes. For the price of what you get, I really don’t care how it looks just as long as it performs. Will do a review once I get it in. So excited!

Includes:
64 Eye Shadows
8 Cream Eye Liners
6 Brow Tech Powders *can’t wait to try this!*
1 Brow Wax
*can’t wait to try this!*
8 Lip Glosses
2 Blushes
1 Complexion Brightener
1 Bronzer
1 Highlighter
4 Mini Brushes (Shadow, Liner, Brow & Lip)

All closed up.

Opens up to this.

Layer 1: Eyeshadows; Layer 2: Creme Liners, Brow Set, Lip Glosses

Layer 3: Blushes, Highlighter, Bronzer, Brightener

Fun Makeup!

Cowgirl. Chun Li. M&M.

Not bad for last minute….literally the evening of the party! I didn’t have to buy a thing since everything was from the closet. Niiiceeeee ….. A recession Halloween.

I always swear to myself that I won’t go to the usual party in town but I did…again. I also said that I won’t dress up again but I did. It was more fun, however, to do makeup looks on my friends – Mini Mouse, Midnight Cowgirl, Queen of Hearts, and a blue M&M (above). Oh and myself as pseudo-Chun Li. hahahaha I wish I had more time to do crazier makeup!

My must-have Halloween supplies:

  • thick dramatic lashes
  • Ben Nye’s Grand Lumiere Palette
  • MAC Blacktrack fluidline
  • MAC Soft Ochre paintpot
  • MAC Matte cream
  • Laura Mercier Transparent setting powder
  • Graftobian makeup setting spray
  • Red lipsticks
  • Rhinestones

Just a few items that I actually used. Can’t wait til next Halloween!
